Are briquettes really better and have higher heating values than wood?

High calorific value of briquettes is achieved by very low water content in the wood biomass which is compressed and mechanically dried; the water content is always below 10%. This content is very low when compared to fresh wood which has moisture of 50% and calorific value of only 7.5 to 8.1 MJ / kg, depending on the time of logging. When dried under the roof or in the direct sun timber dries to a maximum of 20%, thus improving its final calorific value to 15.3 - 15.9 MJ / kg. However, in reality the trees are cut down in the spring and are used for heating in the autumn, therefore the moisture of firewood maybe around 30% and the maximum calorific value only at 12.18 MJ / kg. Therefore, we can rightly guarantee our calorific value of 18.5 MJ / kg (d).

Some briquettes burn faster, some burn longer. Why?
Pure wood biomass is pressed into cylindrical briquettes under the highest possible pressure of 1800 atmospheres, this process normally achieves three times higher specific burn up time than spruce and therefore our ECO BRIQUETTES burn 3 times longer than wood. This makes heat from ECO BRIQUETTES to be released more slowly and with greater efficiency.
BRIQUETTES WITH HOLES IN THE CENTRE are specifically designed for heating in the cold winter cottages and they burn faster. On the contrary, you can enjoy the longest heating with FULL BRIQUETTES OR NIGHT BRIQUETTES which are made from tree bark. These can burn in a warmly heated room with reduced air supply up to 8 hours. You do not need to tend the fire for 8 hours and you will still find embers in a furnace in the morning.

Why are there differences in prices for briquettes?
Unlike anonymous, cheaper or of unknown origin briquettes, we make our are ECO BRIQUETTES LES from dry, clean sawdust and shavings from the primary timber, without any chemical additives, binders, paints, varnishes and other unacceptable impurities. We not only save you money when buying fuel, but also the heating system which you use. Company LES Ltd., Trencin not only sells ECO BRIQUETTES, but also produces them. We are a Slovak producer of wood briquettes with a 10-year tradition. High volume production along with building a network of corporate stores across Slovakia guarantees SECURITY OF SUPPLY throughout the year. We are a VAT payer and we guarantee the quality of our products, which is certified according to regulations. It is simple, price matches the quality.
Briquettes and ashes!

We produce our wood ECO BRIQUETTES LES for you only from pure debarked wood without bark (except special night briquettes) and impurities, and thus we achieve the minimum residual ash content, ranging from 0.8 to 0.37 %.
Additionally, unlike the ash from brown-coal which contains particles of heavy metals and other hazardous substances, the ash from wood briquettes contains plant nutrients. Due to the content of valuable minerals from the original raw material, wood ash is quality fertilizer for compost (at doses of 3-5 kg per 1 m³ of compost) or directly for your garden (for horticultural crops we suggest doses from 0.5 to 2 kg per 10 m²). Representation of individual minerals in the ash is 34 % of calcium, 8 % of potassium, 3 % of phosphorus, 5.5 % of magnesium. Alkaline reaction of ash is (pH 12), therefore you don’t have to use additional lime for your soil, but we suggest that you fertilize your soil with nitrogen in the spring, as the level of nitrogen in ash is 0 %. As fertilizer, ash is most appropriate for small fruit trees, vegetables, bulbs and ornamental plants. Not applicable for use on calcifuges plants.
Why should be briquettes more eco friendly than wood? It is also a natural material, is it not?

Unlike wet wood, fumes from wood briquettes don’t form in the furnace formic acid or acetic acid, which can completely destroy refractory linings, as well as metallic elements of your furnace. Similarly, the furnace can be destroyed by sulfuric acid which is produce by burning of fossil fuels, mainly brown coal. Wood briquettes don’t contain sulfur. The only major gas produced when burning wood briquettes is CO2, but which is in nature converted by plants into oxygen and carbohydrates, necessary for the rapid growth of new biomass. Unlike fossil fuels, burning of biomass is considered “neutral” which means, it is not harmful to the Earth's atmosphere, unlike fossil fuels.
Wood biomass from which we produce ECO BRIQUETTES is practically the only unlimited source of energy on planet Earth. The amount we use every year grows back.
How do I store briquettes?

Wood ECO BRIQUETTES LES take up minimal space. They are packed in 10 kg easy to store packs, which are easy to handle even for older or physically weak individuals. Briquettes packed in polyethylene foil will not dirty or throw dust in your boiler room or apartment, as can do coal. The only serious adversary to your briquettes or pellets is moisture. They should be stored in a dry enclosed place, preferably on the original pallet, not outside, or under shelter covered with polythene.

I have been buying your briquettes for many years and they heat the whole house, I am satisfied with them and using them is effortless.
My daughter noticed one day that our family dog sleeps on the briquettes and not on his pillow and then I started noticing that when I put a package in front of the fireplace our dog lies down  on it.
So, that indicates that your briquettes are heating even without burning in the fireplace :)))
I wish you many happy customers and all the best in the New Year 2013.
